Tapes are combined according to the design of the pattern, and various stitches are used with needles and thread between the tapes to create patterns. It originated in Battenberg, Germany, and was introduced to Japan around 1887, in Yokohama and Kobe. Production flourished in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture. This item is from the early Showa era (pre-war). It was carefully stored at my parents' house, unused and wrapped in wrapping paper. The starch is still strong. However, some discoloration due to aging can be seen on the folds. Please refrain from purchasing if you are nervous or concerned about minor details. I think it has a design that evokes nostalgia.
