The inside is fleece, and it seems warm with down filling. I didn't go out much in the winter, but I used it with both a stroller and a baby carrier. It's large enough to completely cover the feet. There's a pocket on the back (polka dot side). If the size is right, it seems like it can also be used with a baby seat or a child seat. The clips can be fastened without any problems.
