I think you rarely see these nowadays. Although it's been over 30 years, the Gen'emon's top-of-the-line pieces at the time were hand-painted with a thick glaze, so there are some gold glaze wrinkles and unevenness in the red painting on the gold rims and red paintings. Unlike the uniform overglaze of current kiln works, each piece has a distinctive presence. (See images) A gorgeous and lovely Rin-ka (petal-shaped) set, even just displaying it. It has a luxurious design suitable for Kaiseki and Kaiseki meals, and its gorgeousness goes well with Japanese sake, champagne, and wine.
