This is a new item, and the first time I've held it. It looks just like a raku chawan (tea bowl) made of ceramic, but this item is made of wood. It has been partially carved with a spatula-like tool. The luster will disappear with use, and the texture will change to a matte finish. The outside and the area around the foot still have a shine.
