They are easy to use for old-style consecutive hits and roll techniques. I'm not sure if it's green oak or black oak, so it's listed as oak, but the color is darker than regular oak. They are versatile sticks, easy to use for single hits as well. They have a nice shine and a pretty good finish. One stick has a slight wobble, so I've discounted them a bit. These sticks have been sanded up to 10000 grit and then treated with beeswax wax, so they have a much better shine and texture than usual!!
