This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. It is believed to be from the Meiji to Taisho eras. It is likely to have been used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. The touch is wonderfully soft, from hand-spun yarn, and it feels well-used. There are considerable patches, tears, frays, damage, and stains, but the faded indigo is a refreshing sight. Please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned about cotton dust, the unique smell of old cloth, or the smell of mothballs.
