This is an old Hina-ku benta doll from Kumamoto. It is approximately 21 cm tall and 6 cm wide. It is said to have originated from leftover paulownia wood in Hina-ku, which was a geta (Japanese wooden clogs) production area. It is also known as the Okin-nyo doll, after a local folk tale. This piece is from the Taisho to early Showa era, and is a rare work with character. There is overall soiling, and a repair mark on the fabric of the right shoulder. I am also listing various other folk crafts. I will offer a discount if you purchase multiple items. Please feel free to comment (^-^)
