RIMOWA/Rimowa 958.77 "Savannah Late" 2-Wheel Retractable Side Handle Waterproof Aluminum Case, 98L, Discontinued & Extremely Rare ■This is the final specification of the 956, the successor to RIMOWA's 1996 "Savannah" model, which was a lightweight and nimble model that utilized a lot of resin parts, including an inner tray nested in an aluminum case. This is a very rare case, as Rimowa challenged the cutting edge (it evolved from the Savannah with pull tabs, which are relatively common, and is unlikely to be seen elsewhere). It's a 1996 model that features RIMOWA's first SUDHAUS combination lock, a departure from the previous turn-key locks, and has a latch for easy locking and unlocking. After changing from the small-diameter wheels of the early models to larger-diameter wheels for improved running performance, the design evolved from the early models, which simply attached pull tabs directly to the case, to a more sophisticated design that incorporated a retractable, folding L-shaped stick that could be stored without protruding from the case, which had a recessed section for storage. The interior features a resin inner shell tray, similar to RIMOWA's camera cases, and is a heavy-duty, tough aluminum case that can be used to transport various items, such as wet suits and other items covered in sand and mud. ●The condition shows some scratches, scuffs, and dents from use, but it is in good vintage condition without any large, noticeable dents, scratches, or damage that would detract from the form. The interior tray is clean and has tie straps. ●Locking is done with a convenient dial lock latch in the center. (This is not TSA-approved. It is not a TSA-approved model with a master key that is openly available due to online leaks.)
