Thank you very much for viewing. This is a Buddha statue that has been kept in an old townhouse in Kyoto. It has a distinct texture and presence. It is estimated to be from the late Muromachi period to the early Edo period. A distinctive feature is the yosegi-zukuri (joined-wood construction) and the presence of an "安?" kao (signature) on the bottom of the bodhisattva statue. It has inlaid eyes and a flamboyant crown. The drapery is also wonderfully sculpted with movement. The central part of the halo is painted with floral patterns, giving a sense of delicate handwork.
