This is a "Coffee Kettle (with lid)" from Aritsugu in Kyoto. The main body is made of copper, and the handle wrapped in rattan is made of brass. There is some age-related deterioration, and the lid knob is not in a vertical position. It seems like it might be fixable with a strong push, but I have not attempted it to avoid damage. There is no other damage to note. Considering the years since its manufacture, the signs of use are very minimal, and I believe it falls into the category of a beautiful item. The "Coffee Kettle (with lid)" is no longer handled by Aritsugu in Kyoto, but it is listed in a catalog from three generations ago (image 18). It is rarely seen on the used market and is a very rare item. I believe that items in particularly good condition are scarce.
