The matching lining (tomohakkake) features hand-painted flowers. A single family crest (mon) is placed on the back. When sitting or standing at a tea ceremony, the pattern dyed on the upper front lining (uwamae hakkake) is only subtly visible in the movements, but perhaps that's what gives it its understated elegance. The color is a slightly muted, perhaps madder red? It's difficult to describe! Because of its calm color, it can be worn by a wide range of ages depending on the obi (sash).
