Thank you for viewing. This is a beautiful tsutsu-gama (cylindrical tea kettle) with a pine pattern, made by Kamashi (kettle maker) Jogyo. A tsutsu-gama is a type of tea kettle used in the tea ceremony, and is used in the ro (sunken hearth) and furo (portable brazier). Sudo Jogyo is known as a Kamashi who makes tea utensils such as tea kettles and iron teapots used in the tea ceremony. The inscription "Jogyo" is on the bottom of the tsutsu-gama. There is also a box inscription and the inscription "Kamashi Jogyo" on the accompanying box. Approximate dimensions are: opening diameter 110mm, body diameter 155mm, height 210mm. Approximate weight is 2.7kg. Approximate dimensions of the accompanying box are: length and width 215mm, height 265mm. It has been carefully stored in almost new, unused condition, so the condition is good, but there are some stains and dirt on the lid due to aging.
