It emphasizes the slender bamboo leaves and the rustling sound they make. The image of bamboo leaves creating wind is used to express the feelings of wishing for the safety of someone departing or traveling. * "相送当門有脩竹　葉々起清風" (sōsō tōmon yū shūchiku yōyō ki seifū) Seeing someone off at the gate, the bamboo leaves rustle in the wind, sending a cool farewell to the traveler. In 1951, he entered Nanzen-ji Temple's training hall. He practiced Zen under Shibayama Zenkei and received Dharma transmission. In 1962, he became the chief priest of Manju-ji Temple. He may have changed his surname to Katsuhei. In 1967, he became a teacher at Nanzen-ji Temple's training hall. In November 1974, he became the head of the Nanzen-ji Temple sect. He died on November 18, 1983.
