A hon-fukuro obi is a type of fukuro obi (belt) woven in a tubular shape from the beginning, without separately weaving the front and back fabrics. Because there are no seams on either end, it is thin, light, flexible, and exceptionally comfortable to wear. The pattern is not visible during the weaving process, requiring highly skilled techniques, and it is considered a high-quality and very rare obi. Features and Details of Hon-Fukuro Obi: Seamless construction: Unlike regular fukuro obi (sewn fukuro), which sew the front and back fabrics together, the hon-fukuro obi is woven in a "tubular" shape, so there are no seam allowances on the edges. Comfortable to wear: There are no steps from seams, and the front and back fabrics are integrated, so it is less burdensome to wear for long periods and less likely to loosen. High technical skill: Weavers must weave without being able to see the pattern, requiring skilled techniques, and production numbers are very low.
