Tomy 35mm External Finder ◆ Disposing of my collection due to decluttering. ● This is an external optical finder for rangefinder cameras, etc. ● Compatible models: Leica L-mount cameras (such as Barnack Leica) and cameras that support external viewfinders. ● Focal length display: 35mm The light frame is displayed in double: The outer frame is for 35mm lenses, and the inner, slightly smaller frame is for 50mm lenses. ● Appearance condition: There is some cloudiness due to aging. ● The distance adjustment ring is stiff to rotate. ● There is some haze. ● Not recommended for practical use, but suitable for collection. ● Supplement The "distance dial with markings" looks like a focus ring, but it is actually a mechanism for parallax correction. The numbers (3, 3.5, 4, 5, 7, 10, 15, 30, ∞) represent "distance to the subject (ft = feet)". In other words, this ring is for slightly adjusting the viewfinder's field of view up and down depending on the shooting distance. External finders are attached just above the lens, but their position is offset from the lens (a few centimeters above). Therefore, when shooting at close range, a discrepancy (parallax) occurs between the actual shooting position and the position seen in the viewfinder. ● How to use Measure the distance to the subject by eye or with a rangefinder (e.g., 1.5m ≒ about 5 feet) Set the finder ring to the "5" position The frame inside the finder moves slightly up and down, getting closer to the actual shooting range → This reduces the misalignment of the composition even in close-up photography.
