I repurposed a kimono to make a hanten (Japanese padded coat). I used two types of Oshima Tsumugi silk, with orange stripes, black and white checks, and kaso shibori (dried grass tie-dye). The lining is a quilted cotton fabric, making it very warm. The collar overlaps like a kimono, preserving the traditional Japanese clothing style. I made this with a man in mind, but women can wear it too. Size: Men's L-M, Women's LL- Detailed measurements are in the last photo. Washing Instructions: Dry cleaning is recommended. If hand washing, wash quickly by pressing, use fabric softener, lightly spin dry, hang to dry in the shade, and use a pressing cloth when ironing. I made this by deconstructing a kimono I bought at a used clothing store. The lining is polyester taffeta quilt. The overlapping front closure prevents warmth from escaping. It's light and warm, so it won't make your shoulders stiff, and it's perfect for wearing around the house in winter. It also has a convenient pocket.
